The Bruton Parish Church, located in the heart of historic downtown Williamsburg, is a very special venue. Built in 1660, the house of worship is over 3 centuries old! It’s congregation has included many recognizable Revolutionary War heroes and past presidents, such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, George Wythe, Patrick Henry, and James Madison. Plaques with their names grace many of the pews to this day. Having survived both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, it is rich with history. For more history facts about the church, click here.
While this church is a historical landmark not to be missed, it also still has a very active congregation that gather there to this day! Visitors are welcome to come participate in services as they enjoy the historic architecture.
